An Excellent Beginners Guide To Western Magick

I am in total disagreement to the first reviewer of this
book. It is an excellent and easy to understand beginners
guide to ceremonial magick, which is more than I can say
about Steve Savedow's book with the same title, which I don't
recommend at all for beginners. So what is the big deal about
there being a lot of material here that can be found in Mr.
Tyson's other books? The same can be said of several of Israel
Regardie's books, but no one complains about that! The BIG difference hear is that Mr. Tyson's takes this information and creates a step-by-step study guide, that is very pragmatic and
safe. If you have never owned a book by Donald Tyson and want
to learn about High Magick, this is an excellent place to start.
After studying and finishing the study program of this book, you
may then want to purchase his other books on magick and/or pick
up a copy of Donald Michael Kraigs "Modern Magick," which covers
a certain amount of material the Mr. Tyson does in "The Magician's Workbook," but goes a bit further into more advanced
techniques and practices.
On a final note I'd like to add that there are many books on
the market with the same title, often covering the same subject.
The idea that Llewellyn is doing some sort of injustice to
Mr. Steve Savedow just because they released a book on magick
with the same title as his is absurd. Perhaps the first reviewer
of this book is upset because Mr. Tyson's book is a much, much
better beginner's guide to magick than Mr. Savedow's!

Great Book

A great book, I have aquired many books on magic and magic systems throughout the years and none were quite presented in an easy to understand and practise manner. Tyson seems to have layed everything out nice and neatly even with a schedule on the recommended way to follow the excercises contained in the book. A small note on some of the negative reviews, the section on "ego destruction" is untrue, it has nothing to do with ego destruction, merely a mental excercise to help you learn a little bit of control. The excercises are stated simply with no fluff, just the meat. There are hundreds of books about magic that are extremely complex. So few are simple and well laid out, this book is a valuable resource for a beginner.

How magick books should be written

In The Magicician's Workbook, Donald Tyson guides the novice reader through an occult training program revolving around the Golden Dawn-style of ceremonial magick. He has trimmed away all irrelevant information so that all that is left is the practical application.

The book presents detailed descriptions of 40 different exercises, from simple meditations working up to more elaborate rituals. How this book is different from others on the subject is its specific explanations of every action, especially the internal actions and visualizations which are the key to the successful practice of any kind of magick. Also of note is that all exercises are complete and self-contained, meaning if it builds on a previous exercise, it isn't just casually mentioned for the reader to go and leaf through the book to find it. They are all described in exhaustive detail from beginning to end, making it much easier to follow. The end of the book provides a structured development program using the exercises listed over a period of ten months, allowing for a gradual evolution, making sure the basics are mastered before moving on to the next level. There is also a "maintenance cycle" for the practitioner to follow in order to prevent a regression in abilities.

Because this book centers around practicality, much background information is not included, leaving the student to search elsewhere for the knowledge leading to a deeper understanding. For a stronger foundation in ceremonial magick, I recommend blending training with this book and Donald Michael Kraig's Modern Magick. However it is my opinion that after having worked through even just The Magician's Workbook alone, the magickian will be more than capable to practice magick in any style.

About the Author
JAMI J. SHAH is Professor of Design and Manufacturing in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Arizona State University. Widely published in the technical literature, Professor Shah has been actively involved in research in geometric modeling, feature-based design, manufacturability analysis, machining process planning, and data exchange standards. Prior to his academic career, he worked in the manufacturing sector where he continues to serve as a consultant.

MARTTI MNTYL is Professor of Information Technology in the Laboratory of Information Processing Science at the Helsinki University of Technology, Finland, where he is the head of research teams in product modeling and realization, rapid prototyping, assembly robotics, usability engineering, and analysis and measurement of CIM systems. He is a member of the editorial board of Computer-Aided Design and a member of the executive committee of the Eurographics Association.

Feature Based Modelling Explained

This is a beautifully organised book, taking you through CAD/CAM methodology. Importance of features in modelling practice has come out very well.
However, the concepts of parametric, variational and hibrid modeling techniques could be made more elaborate and lucid. The mathematics dealt in this book also could be retouched.
All these limitations aside, this is a class book. Ideal for university students and the guys getting into CAD/CAM development.

Amazing Book

The book is written for all kind of reader. A undergraduate, graduate and research scholar like me can follow the book without any difficulty. The knowledge of CAD is not required for this book any with good attitude can use this book. The applications given in the book is really interesting and more usefull for understanding. Any one who wants to do a course in the area of cad/cam he/she must study the book.

Taking romance to a new level

After 25 years of marriage, I decided that I would begin reading to my wife at bedtime. Not knowing where to begin, I chose this book on love poetry. To call it successful would be quite the understatement. My wife loved the gesture and the poetry, often times she cries as I read these poems to her. She said that "no one writes like that anymore," to which I replied, "I am not sure that any one loves like that anymore." What a tremendous way to broaden your literary and romantic horizons. I even had one poem made into a print and it is now prominently displayed in our bedroom.

Massive Collection of Moving Poetic Masterpieces

"Love Poem Collection - The Greatest Love Poems" is a great addition to anyone looking to expand their digital library of poetry. The poems collected herein are both uplifting, lovely, moving, and downright heartbreaking (in the later part of the book titled "Poems About Losing Love").

The Table of Contents is active, meaning you can click each author/title of a poem and be taken right to it; Kindle users will appreciate the meaning of this. You can scroll through the Table of Contents, pick a poem, read it, then hit back and it takes you right where you left off in the Contents, which is very helpful.

As for the amount of poems, there are well over 100, including some of my favorites: "She Walks in Beauty" by Lord Byron; "Serenade", "Annabel Lee", "To Helen" -- all by Edgar Allen Poe; "To Mary" by John Clare; and too many more to name.

There are a lot of poems here, and they should provide hours of reading and studying. The publishers even accept new poems via submissions (through their site) and, so the book says, give you any of the future editions [of this book] free of charge.

I should also note that I am indeed a man. Poetry has always been a big part of my life; I started reading it at an early age and writing it soon after. In my opinion, some of the greatest poems are written about love (or loss thereof). So even though these are "Love Poems", don't be cajoled into thinking they should only appeal to women. Take "Annabel Lee" for example. This is my personal favorite poem; Vladimir Nabokov even uses it as a sort of "opening" in his novel "Lolita".

There is a lot to be learnt reading and studying poetry, and many emotions to be felt. All in all "Love Poem Collection - The Greatest Love Poems" lived up to my expectations for a poem collection. I'm happy I purchased it, and for $2 no less! Not that that should be a motivation, the poems themselves are priceless.

Must Have For the TV Video Collector

I purchased the first two books way back when they first came out (1959-1975 and 1975-1980) and I have found these two books to be more valuable in the age of TV Programs on DVD because they list not only the titles of programs, but the actors. And the order of episodes is especially helpful if you are recording rare TV shows.

I didn't know the author had more books out after 1980. I'm definitely interested because this author is very thorough and his books are a must have for anyone interested in early TV.

An amazing piece of work.

This is THE reference for anyone, professional or amateur, who is writing an episode guide or just wants to have a list of the episodes of a given drama in airdate order. An invaluable resource, as shown by the number of Web-based episode guides that cite one or all of these volumes as references. For most TV series, Gianakos also critiques certain episodes, and puts the shows into the context of their time. The 1959-75 volume is my personal favorite, capturing the era I believe to have been TV's best. This is an inexplicably underrated series of books.
